The unique event will see 48 teams competing in heats to reach the semi finals and then the thrilling finals.
The coracles, which are notoriously difficult to steer, are circular boats which require a very specific way in which to manoeuvre them – obviously resulting in some hilarious high-jinxes.
Headline sponsor Morris Care has kick-started Macmillan’s fundraising effort, which looks to raise more than £20,000 for Shropshire Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan fundraising manager Helen Knight said: “The coracle race has raised more than £125,000 since 2007 and we are very grateful for the support and commitment we have received so far for the race.
“We are looking forward to another fantastic event and challenge anyone to come and have a go or share in this great spectacle down on the Severn.”
