NZ 2nd in 20 best places to live overseas

HSBC’s annual Expat Explorer survey has ranked New Zealand second in an intriguing 20-strong list of the best places to live abroad.

The reputable survey’s criteria features experiential and economic factors and this year saw New Zealand placed second only to Singapore.

“New Zealand has a relatively low crime rate, according to the US State Department, and HSBC named it the best place for bringing up confident, well-rounded kids,” reported Business Insider.

“Ranked number one for experience, the government seems eager to recruit expats. Seventy-seven percent of expats feel their quality of life is better in New Zealand, earning it a gold for the category.

“What keeps it at number two is its economics. New Zealand ranked low for expat disposable income and wage growth.”

Sweden, Bahrain and Germany, meanwhile, were rated third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Last year’s number one, Switzerland, fell to 10th spot – and India dropped from ninth to 17th.
