The New Zealand Cellar launch: now offering NZ wines to the UK

Launched in June 2014, The New Zealand Cellar is set to become one of the most influential suppliers of premium New Zealand wine to consumers in the UK.


London eyeHeaded by Melanie Brown, lead developer of Peter Gordon’s unique wine list at London’s The Providores and Tapa Room (which now boasts the largest premium NZ list in Europe) her passion, palate and her knowledge of the most interesting and rarest NZ wines is second to none.

Having been selected as judge on the New Zealand panel at the Decanter World Wine Awards (the world’s leading wine magazine) for the last two years, Melanie has a keen eye on New Zealand’s burgeoning wine industry .

The online store is user-friendly with wines distinguished by price, region and grape variety. Wines can be purchased as singles or more and come with a guaranteed delivery between 1 – 5 days within the UK. All orders above £150.00 will include free delivery.

The New Zealand Cellar will initially offer a diverse selection of wines, with the aim of continuously evolving and developing as new vintages and wines become available to the market. A fortnightly newsletter will keep clients up-to-date with developments within the New Zealand wine industry together with regular offers and promotions.

The New Zealand Cellar launched to an audience of acclaimed International wine writers and journalists on 30 June 2014 at New Zealand House, London.

Melanie has worked in the London restaurant industry for 8 years during which she played a fundamental role in developing The Providores and Tapa Room wine list to the largest selection of premium New Zealand wine, in Europe. She is an influential member of the New Zealand ex-pat wine community in London and has been keen eye in developing the UK’s understanding of the New Zealand wine market.

In addition to launching The New Zealand Cellar, Melanie will remain as the head wine buyer for The Providores and Tapa Room, continue to act as a wine judge and advise on food and wine matching. Upon request, Melanie is available for wine list development and consultancy.
