April Shootout delivers the goods
Finals week down at Clapham in the Spring shootout league and the weather gods were playing ball for a sizzling hot evening of awesome touch. With the format of the shootout league consisting of 2 x 20 minute games per team, per evening, finals night was always going to be a nail-biting affair with the semi finals and finals taking place on the same evening. There were some really tight contests throughout the evening but in the end the evergreen Misfits and fast improving Baa Baas were the victors both winning their first shoot-out league titles.
Touch quote of the week
Nick Heath, Rugby World Cup commentator and captain of the winning Clapham Shootout team, the Misfits:
“Having eluded us for a couple of seasons, winning the April Shootout was pretty satisfying for the Misfits. It may have helped that our opponents in the Final had a few internationals in absentia on Touch World Cup duty but we’ll take it. We hope to take out good from into the O2 Touch Spring leagues with some new personnel and most importantly, new flash kit!”
