LORDE rocketed to #1 within hours of releasing Royals on iTunes in the UK on 20 October, but has since received criticism for her opinions of other young musicians by X Factor star, Cher Lloyd.
The Royals singer recently took aim at Selena Gomez’s Come & Get It and criticised Taylor Swift for being “so flawless and so unattainable”, and it seems her comments have annoyed Lloyd, who claims to be best friends with the two musicians
During an interview with J-14.com, Lloyd said, “Why does she have to go do that? She’s doing so well – what a knob. Why would she do that? She’s sitting at number one.”
Lloyd’s criticisms have had little effect on Lorde’s ratings as Royals has held the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for the past three weeks.
She and her co-writer, Joel Little, also recently won the APRA Silver Scroll award for the hit song, and she even performed despite suffering from food poisoning in Brisbane, later telling fans she had vomited after leaving the stage.
Lorde tweeted to her fans, “Brisbane lovely people, I have food poisoning but didn’t want to cancel the [email protected] literally hurled walking offstage, LOL. I’ll be back soon OK.”
