London Touch Rugby League Update: Hot Custard and Forde’s Falcons trade blows in a battle royale

London Touch Rugby Teams bring their Christmas cheer to the league.

Fantastic late autumn weather allowed for awesome Touch action on Sunday at Clapham Common.

The dark grey skies, fun in the mud and torrential elements of the previous week had disappeared. Blue sky, sunshine and soft conditions underfoot made for a Sunday of perfect touch and another great league day out.

The teams are bringing their Christmas cheer to the league each week, and with two weeks left, it proves to be a very close race to the finals. Hot Custard wowed everyone with their annual ‘Hot Custard Pantomime’ which took place at G.J’s in Wandsworth.  It was written and choreographed by John Boyes and Bridget McNamara who have the privilege once a year to create their masterpiece.

Marc Desmeules, the Venue Manager said, “Hot Custard and Forde’s Falcons were locked horns in a battle royale, trading blows like heavy-weight boxers, with one exchange of touch downs after another. Great set-plays and team transfers from both squads were on show, but with a man down after a sending off, Forde’s Falcons ran out of steam and Hot Custard took the spoils with a 6 – 4 victory.”

Both teams are in the first Mixed Division and are playing off on Sunday in the semi-finals to see who goes through to the final. Both teams also have England Touch Players that are training for the upcoming Touch World Cup taking place in Australia in April 2015. Forde’s Falcons are coached by Noel Forde; Noel is the England Mixed Opens Coach as well as one of their players. He has taken the Mixed Open team to great victories in the past and is looking to get fantastic results in the World Cup next year.
