New Zealand have been nominated for the Laureus World Team of the Year Award, with Dan Carter in contention for the Comeback of the Year.
The names of the nominees for the Laureus World Sports Awards, six in each of seven categories, were announced in Berlin on Wednesday.
The winners will be revealed at the Awards Ceremony in Berlin on April 18.
Following their 2015 World Cup win, New Zealand are joined by Spanish football giants FC Barcelona, Golden State Warriors (basketball), Great Britain’s Davis Cup team (tennis), Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team and the US Women’s football team in their category.
Meanwhile, World Rugby Player of the Year Carter will go up against Jessica Ennis-Hill (athletics), Mick Fanning (surfing), Michael Phelps (swimming), David Rudisha (athletics) and Lindsey Vonn (skiing).
