From Hollywood to Wellywood – director James Cameron is planning to relocate to New Zealand’s Wairarapa region with his family.
The Overseas Investment Office (OIO) has approved two applications from James Cameron of Canada to buy two properties totalling more than 1000 hectares on Western Lake Road in South Wairarapa, near Wellington.
The Avatar and Titanic director is expected to arrive later this year to work on an Avatar sequel with Weta Digital.
The OIO decision says “Cameron and his family intend to reside indefinitely in New Zealand and are acquiring the property to reside on and operate as a working farm”.
It lists the purchase price as confidential.
