Everyone’s favourite Scientologist pops into Auckland church

American actor Tom Cruise has been in New Zealand – and recently visited the Auckland Church of Scientology.

Cruise popped into the church’s newly adopted home – a 16-million dollar, heritage building in Grafton.

He has been in the Land of the Long, White Cloud filming the latest installment of the famous Mission Impossible franchise.

“We don’t run his schedule, we don’t do anything like that. It’s like any person wanting to visit their church community in their own country,” said Church of Scientology spokesperson Mike Ferris

“He is a very down-to-earth person. It was a real privilege to have him here to come and see our building.”

The 55-year-old Cruise has involved himself in Scientology – a religion created by science fiction author L Ron Hubbard – since 1990.

Mission: Impossible 6 is scheduled for release in July 2018.
