During The Rugby World Cup, O2Touch held some coaching sessions at some of our London venues in Richmond, Regents Park and Clapham Common.
Many new touch players were introduced to this great game while learning new skills, making new friends, and getting to know the rules of the game.
There were over 200 players who attended these sessions throughout the two months with 80% of them being totally new touch players.
James Gale said about the Coaching Sessions he attended in Regents Park: “I’ve just had a great time at all of the touch sessions in Regents Park.”
One of the coaches, Will Seldon, had this to say about the sessions: “There was a positive reaction from all who turned up to each of the sessions. They all had fun at various stages and drills.
“They all learnt some useful things including rules and how to play the game while thinking a few steps ahead. In the end I think they all found it a social event as well as good exercise. There was some heavy breathing at the end of each session but they were always up for another 5mins come 12pm.”
More information on when and where these new sessions will take place will be confirmed in the New Year.
Quite a few of our new players who attended the Coaching Sessions became friends and have decided to enter as a team into our last league of the 2015 calendar, The Christmas Shootout League in Clapham Common.
This league starts on Sunday the 15th November and runs for four weeks, finishing on the 6th December. There are Men’s, Ladies’ and Mixed divisions to choose from and games will be 40 minutes long, starting from 12pm onwards.
So feel free to pop by to watch the action every Sunday and even join the players at the pub, Gigalum, for some delicious roast lunch after the games. There will also be a Fancy Dress competition on the Finals day of the league with the winners taking away a prize for the best Christmas Spirit.
