Travel crisis: Contiki update
The latest information and advice for Contiki passengers concerning the volcano ash disruptions.
Information from Contiki.co.uk
21 April 2010
Contiki welcomes the reopening of European airspace on the evening of 20 April and is Contiki is currently doing everything it can to ensure minimal impact to our customers that have been affected by the Volcanic Ash situation.
The vast majority of Contiki’s European tours are operating as scheduled, with minimal disruption. A very small number of tours have been cancelled due to low numbers as a result of clients not being able to arrive at the starting point. Any guests who have arrived for cancelled tours have been offered alternative departures.
Contiki customers can choose to cancel their scheduled tour (prior to departure date) and arrange to travel with Contiki at a future date.
Those wishing to do so should contact Contiki or their travel agent for assistance. Contiki will, in these circumstances, waive Cancellation Fees and transfer full payment received to a new 2010 departure, provided it is re-booked by 17 May 2010. Any additional land/tour or air change fees are at the cost of the passenger.
Contiki is asking passengers travelling into Europe within the next week to please check directly with airline websites or call centres for flight status updates.
For those who have travel plans that are impacted, Contiki is advising you to contact Contiki reservations on 020 8290 6422, your travel agent or your travel insurance provider for assistance.
Please remember, your insurance provider will require receipts for all out-of-pocket expenses.
The majority of Contiki clients who were returning from Europe on 15 April were able to depart prior to airport closures. Any remaining departing passengers are working directly with the airlines and Contiki Tour Managers are providing assistance wherever possible.
Although flights are now operating in the UK, Contiki will continue to monitor the situation and post additional updates as necessary on www.contiki.com
For all enquiries, customers should contact Contiki Reservations on 020 8290 6422 or their travel agent.
