Tamagotchi return: ‘I had to take the damn things to work each day to keep them alive’
Your favourite digital toy from the 1990s will soon be back.
Yes, the Tamagotchi will return to shop shelves this year.
Millennials will have the chance to look after the little digital creature growing in the oval device, much like many of us did in our youth.
Its recreation comes two decades after its initial invention, although several versions have been seen over the years.
The classic version of the Tamagotchi is only available in Japan at the moment – and retails for about 26 New Zealand dollars.
Singer Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom, if your remember, famously had one one her during the Met Gala in 2015.
Socia media users, have, predictably responded to the news.
– “My kids’ schools banned them. I had to take the damn things to work each day to keep them alive.”
– “I got the Tamagotchi! It’s smaller than I thought it would be, but oh the memories!”
– “I came to buy this immediately.”
