The Gurus face off against each other
Round Two of the winter touch league (hosted by In2Touch) took place on Sunday in the hail and mud of King George’s Park in Wandsworth. The Gurus touch rugby club had mixed results across their sides, including a clash between two of their teams

This week saw our two mixed sides (Toxic and Apogee) going head-to-head for the honour of being the dominant mixed side in the club.
Despite the conditions both sides gave their all and a winner could not be decided with the scores locked in at 4-4 after 40 minutes of play.
Highlights included two intercept touchdowns with Teresa Dean dropping the hammer and outpacing the boys to keep her side in the game.
The GT-Toxic side applied considerable pressure on a fatigued GT-Apogee in the closing minutes but failed to convert pressure into points.
The ladies side (GT-Angels) were the success story of the day bouncing back from last weekend’s defeat to obliterate the Hot Custard ladies 5-0 with some well worked team scores.
The girls relied on their powerful yards game to gain territorial advantage and then successfully executed a number of structured plays to break down the Hot Custard defence. Teresa Dean again came to the fore with a tremendous dive to score a touchdown towards the end of the game and put the nail in the coffin.
The men’s side (GT-RPM) unfortunately fell from grace following a good start to the season last week and conceded this week’s game 5-1 with a number of basic defensive errors. After an open and honest debrief the boys will look to right the wrongs in round three next weekend.
Gurus Touch Club has grown from strength to strength over the last seven years, performing consistently at every level of the game in London. Initially started and run by South Africans, Gurus has become a truly international club with several Zimbabweans, Aussies, Kiwis and even some English players joining over the years. We have numerous teams from social sides through to the more serious Super League sides.
