South Park Lorde spoof goes around the world

When Lorde and South Park meet the result can be nothing but a genius lovechild

 
 

Singing sensation Lorde is the latest subject of South Park’s hard-hitting comedy as part of an episode aired last week in the US called “The Cissy”.

South Park character Randy Marsh, Stan Marsh’s geologist father, reveals in the episode that he is in fact Lorde – to much hilarity and laughter. The episode pokes fun at the music industry, particularly the growing practise of home recording and using autotune.

And here’s a full version of the track, released by the South Park creators last week following popular demand. It is styled on Lorde’s signature sound but written by the comedy team behind South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

The “real” Lorde had reportedly been unaware of the parody episode being produced, but took the news graciously, even repeating a snippet from the song written for South Park, “I am Lorde, yeah yeah yeah,” during a recent interview:
