Spring is almost upon us, meaning longer afternoons and evenings to spend more time outside soaking in the suns rays, and playing Touch Rugby.

The arrival of spring means that the annual O2 Touch leagues across England will get into fifth gear, with thousands of players descending upon local parks and sports clubs to be part of the O2 Touch family.

All seven O2 Touch venues in London will continue to offer teams, players, families, and friends the chance to be involved in one of the fastest growing sports in the UK.

Touch is a variation of Rugby league and Rugby union. Basically, Touch takes the contact out of the game, making it more accessible to men and women of all ages. Played on a smaller field and lasting only 40 minutes, this game can be picked up and enjoyed within days.

There is a league out there for everyone, because social and competitive divisions are played at all venues. There are also separate leagues for men and women, which allows both genders the chance to excel in their environment.

Alternatively, you can play in a mixed team. This provides a great social atmosphere for all players and is a fantastic way to meet up and play with people who will become friends.

There have been schools entering teams into the leagues, giving youngsters a chance to improve their ball skills, communication skills and team play to help them for the next rugby season.

There are corporate teams, rugby clubs, touch clubs and individuals signing up to play every year. Whether you are 16 or 60, there is no limit.

In London alone, there are seven O2 Touch venues. From Richmond to Regents Park and Hyde Park, then all the way over to Deptford Park in Surrey Quays. Moving south of the river there is the ever-popular Clapham Common league and we cannot forget the Wandsworth Common and Putney Wandsworth leagues.

You can sign up and play after work or closer to home. There are opportunities everywhere.
