Registration still open for spring/summer leagues in London

It’s officially spring, and with the longer days and warmer weather, parks, commons and patches of green are bound to become fuller and busier as people attempt to soak up the warmth of the sun’s rays.

Spring also means that it is time for the annual spring O2 touch leagues to begin playing in seven of London’s parks and commons.

The In2Touch team, venue managers, and referees have all be preparing the leagues and venues for the first games to tap off – but if you haven’t yet signed up, there is still time.

It all starts in Regent’s Park the week commencing 18 April; Clapham Common, Wandsworth Common, King George’s Park and Richmond tap off the week commencing 25 April. The Hyde Park and Surrey Quays leagues tap off on Wednesday, 4 May.

The good news is that there are teams for everyone – women’s teams, men’s teams, mixed teams, beginners’ teams – it is a social as well as a sporting event for people of all ages and sporting abilities.

Magic Touch, a club that has been a team playing for more than a decade, has three teams in the league. Club organiser, Alan Munday: “Participating in the annual spring and summer O2 Touch leagues gives our friends and families an opportunity and excuse to get together during the week.

“We take in the amazing sights of Regent’s Park all the while playing touch, a fantastic game that has seen our club grow with fathers, wives, children, and colleagues all coming together to support one another each week. It is a great game and one that can be picked up very quickly.”
