One of the teams playing in the competition is Pipe Down Santas. This is a team put together from the referees that have spent so many hours in the past eight months making sure the players, teams, and leagues enjoy their experience in the game.

As things start to quieten down over the festive season, we wanted to let all our readers know that Touch really is the game for everyone. It is a great sport for hand eye coordination, ball skills, and mental foresight. All this while keeping active and fit throughout the year.

Children of all ages, parents, regular rugby players, and men and women of all fitness levels can all get involved in playing touch.

At every league in England there are mixed competitions, which require no more than 4 men and at least 2 ladies on the field of play at all times. For women who are not comfortable stepping onto the field with men, there are leagues in London, and throughout England, that offer ladies-only leagues.

There are different levels and divisions that people can play in. Touch is a minimal contact sport where you just need to make a touch on another player with your hand. Even just touching a player’s shirt or the ball counts.

It looks similar to rugby union and league but without the tackling, scrumming and kicking. But you’re still trying to score tries and win the game.

There are commercial leagues flourishing in England, Scotland, South Africa and New Zealand. There are also regular school competitions and development clinics spreading the Touch gospel to everyone. The official governing body of the sport is known as the Federation of International Touch (FIT).

With the final touches being made to the 2016 London In2Touch calendar, it is going to be one of the best years to play the game, with new leagues starting as soon as early January.

What better way to run off all the Christmas puddings than to enjoy a fantastic social game of to touch. If you are interested in joining these leagues then send an email to [email protected] or have a look on www.in2touch.com/uk for more information.
