Oprah scoffs at US presidency opportunity

Oprah Winfrey has once again confirmed that she has no interest in running for US president.

Winfrey stole the show at Golden Globes awards ceremony recently with her empowering speech against sexual harassment and assault.

Her speech set social media alight and social media users could not stop talking about how the former talk show host and media mogul should become the next president of the USA.

But in an interview with CBS, Winfrey said that running for president is “not in my spirit”.

“I am actually humbled by the fact that people think that I could be a leader of the free world,” she said.

Winfrey admitted that after her speech at the Golden Globes, she received a lot of positive feedback from “wealthy men” who said they would support her if she should consider running for president.

“I had a lot of wealthy men calling, telling me that they would run my campaign and raise $1-billion for me.”

Winfrey said that she knows that she has the responsibility to use her voice to help people and stand up for what she believes in, but has no interest to take it to a political level.
