North London Tag Festival sees record numbers participate

Try Tag Rugby held their annual North London Tag Festival on Saturday 14th November at Saracens ARFC in Southgate with a record breaking 41 team entrants across three divisions.

The North London Tag Festival was Try Tag Rugby’s last one day tournament for 2015 and despite the rainy conditions, it didn’t put a dampener on the day with plenty of great Tag Rugby action on display across the three divisions.

The interest for the tournament was so high that 30 teams had registered four weeks out from the event. The Saracens ARFC venue only had capacity for a maximum of 30 teams so the nearby Ashmole Academy played host to the Tier 3 division for the day to cater for all the 41 teams.

The North London Tag Festival is always played toward the back end of the year as it’s the last chance for teams to get a good hit out before the Winter chill kicks in.

Division champions and runners-up:

Tier 1 Cup Champions (Top seeded 15 teams) – Tumeke
Tier 1 Cup Runner’s Up - Straight T’werk

Tier 1 Plate Champions - Hawaii Try-O
Tier 1 Plate Runner’s Up - Lights, Camera, ACTON!

Tier 2 Cup Champions (Teams seeded 16 to 29) - Try Another Day
Tier 2 Cup Runner’s Up - OTG

Tier 2 Plate Champions - Vicious & Delicious
Tier 2 Plate Runner’s Up - Peoples Republic of Tagwan

Tier 3 Cup Champions (Teams seeded 30 to 41) - Taguilera
Tier 3 Cup Runner’s Up - Scrotag

Tier 3 Plate Champions - ….. And that’s why Grant got deported
Tier 3 Plate Runner’s Up - Grubber Duckies

After Party

As per all Try Tag Rugby one day tournaments, the after party is just as important as what happens on the pitch with the Saracens ARFC onsite bar packed to the rafters throughout the evening. The keener party goers – which were many – kicked on after the Saracens bar had closed, down the road at 12 Bar until the early hours of the morning!
