NEW ZEALAND have named three new caps in their team for Friday’s rugby league Test against the Kangaroos in Auckland.

Brisbane fullback Josh Hoffman and Warriors halfback Shaun Johnson make their debuts in the starting 13 and Melbourne prop Jesse Bromwich is on the bench for the Eden Park clash.

In the team released on Tuesday evening, Jason Taumalolo was dropped from the squad of 19, with Bronco Gerard Beale named as the 18th man.

Taumalolo’s absence means Warriors’ skipper Simon Mannering moves from the second row to the centres.

The Kiwis beat Australia in finals of the 2008 World Cup and 2010 Four Nations, but have not won the mid-year trans-Tasman encounter since their 22-16 victory at North Harbour Stadium in 1998 – the last time the match was staged in New Zealand.
