Lorde refuses to nickname her fans

Our favourite songbird is constantly making headlines with her bold statements, often about her fellow peers, but now Lorde refuses to fall into the fad of nicknaming your fans.

THERE are a lot of reasons why we so love Lorde, but the main one has to be her bold stand against joining the stereotypical ‘pop star’ cult.

According to the 17 year old songbird she refuses to fall into the group that will name her loyal fans.

One Direction has their Directioners, Miley Cyrus has the Smilers, Katy Perry has KatyCats, and Lady Gaga has her little Monsters.

Lorde has publicly said that she does not approve of her fans having a nickname, after a fan requested to be called The Disciples… very catchy.

Lorde explained: “I find it grating to lump everyone into a really awkward, pun-centric name. People joke about it on Twitter, ‘You should call us The Disciples.’ Never! I have discouraged it. I’ve tweeted multiple times, ‘No fan name, I do not condone this.’”

Even though she refuses to give her fans a nickname she has no problem being considered a pop star.

She admitted: “People think pop’s filthy and shameful. I love pop music! I don’t think it’s right to shit on a genre just because some stuff about it isn’t perfect. Pop is really powerful and if I’m a pop star then I’ll be that to the best of my ability.”

Well if the past year is anything to go by, Lorde is dominating in the pop world, and will continue to do so if she sticks to her guns.
