New Zealand singer Lorde was part of an emotional tribute performance to the late David Bowie at the Brit Awards this week, and his former producer wrote on Facebook that Lorde had ‘rocked it’.

Bowie passed away earlier this year from cancer, and the Brit performance saw Auckland’s Lorde, Annie Lennox, Gary Oldman and Bowie’s former band combine in a 15-minute tribute.

Lorde sang Life on Mars, and producer Visconti wrote on social media: “A first class, respectful, sensitive, egoless tribute to dear David.

“Thank you Gail Ann Dorsey, Gerry Leonard, Mike Garson, Sterling Campell, Catherine Russel and Earl Slick. David loved you and I love you. Lorde, you rocked it! And thanks to The Brits. As the UK is my other ‘home’ I have to say you did the right thing.”
