A skydiver has been killed near Wanaka after having trouble with both his main and reserve parachutes

A SKYDIVER has been killed near Wanaka after having trouble with both his main and reserve parachutes.
He landed on a golf driving range over the road from the town’s airport.
The 38-year-old was an Italian national who was filming a paid tandem skydive.

Police told APNZ it appeared the man had difficulties with both his main and reserve parachutes, and died when he hit the ground.

His fall was seen by several members of the public, and no-one else was involved.

The death is being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority, and has been referred to the Coroner.
