Hot Custard again claim London Active Touch title

Over the past six weeks, eight teams took to the courts in London in the hopes of winning the winter Active Touch league, and Hot Custard have been crowned the victors.

With four teams playing on Tuesdays, and four other teams playing on Thursdays, it kept the excitement and interest alive until the finals in the last week.

Veterans of the league, Hot Custard, enjoy these leagues so much that they traditionally enter two teams in each league. This strategy seems to have helped them in the lead up to the spring and summer leagues in the past few years, by getting an edge on their competition.

John Boyes, organiser for the Hot Custard touch club in London said: “The Active Touch leagues that In2Touch run each winter now, have become part of our clubs annual touch calendar.

Getting away from the cold weather is so fantastic and it allows you to keep active and motivated throughout the year. The sport itself is absolutely amazing and if I can play it, anyone can.”

Hot Custard have, however, started to find it a little harder to win both leagues, like they did a few seasons ago. This is great news for the game as it shows that the teams taking part are really getting into it and always looking to improve.

The late winter league started this week. We’d like to wish all the teams involved the best of luck. Enjoy the last few weeks of running around in a nice, warm, comfortable hall and may the best team win.

If you’d like to see what Active Touch is all about and whether it is something you would like to do from September to April each year, then go and watch the games being played in the hall of the Wandle Recreation Centre, Wandsworth.

It is within easy walking distance of Earlsfield and Wandsworth Town rail stations. Games are played every Tuesday and Thursday from 18:30 till 19:30 sharp.

Please do introduce yourselves to Venue Manger on the night, as they will be happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have.
