Family of Twelve awards UK wine writer NZ wine scholarship

David Way won the Family of Twelve MW scholarship for his essay exploring how New Zealand can strengthen and build its reputation as a fine wine producer.

David Way is currently studying at the Institute of Masters of Wine, specialising in wines from France and Italy. In an essay exploring how New Zealand can imporve its reputation as a producer of fine wines, Way showed a keen understanding of New Zealand winemaking and business, reported Harpers.

The Family of Twelve brings together twelve of New Zealand’s wineries who, since 2005, have been furthering education and promoting New Zealand’s wines. The Family awarded their first MW scholarship to Way.

Way will now spend two weeks in New Zealand visiting the twelve wineries in the Family of Twelve group.
