Deep 5.2 quake rattles New Zealand’s North Island

A Magnitude 5.2 earthquake has been recorded centred 15 kilometres southeast of Tokoroa in the central North Island.

A MAGNITUDE 5.2 earthquake has been recorded centred 15 kilometres southeast of Tokoroa in the central North Island.

The earthquake had a focal depth of 199km and was recorded at 1.05pm (1105 AEDT) on Monday.

The quake was felt in Wellington, Nelson and in Hamilton.
