Some tired and sore bodies due to the matches and, of course, the party.

The 2015 Summer Social Tag Rugby Tournament in London on Saturday attracted a record 44 teams across six divisions. Some teams had to be turned away due to the limited pitch space available! It was a cracking day out with plenty of Tag being played and many tired and sore bodies on Sunday due to the matches and the ample partying afterwards.

With the Early Summer season approaching the business end, the annual Summer Social Tag tournament is a great way of welcoming in the upcoming summer season.

This annual tournament which is held in Richmond attracted a record 44 teams this year! Try Tag Rugby run the Tag side of Summer Social but with plenty of other sports at the event such as Rugby 7s, Netball, Lacrosse and Volleyball being played, it gives the event a great festival atmosphere.

After all the sports have concluded, Summer Social has a line-up of some of the UK’s best DJs so all the event goers can party into the night!

With 44 teams on hand, they all battled it out across six divisions to claim some silverware. All 44 teams were divided into 11 seeded pools of four and each team played every other team in their pool. Teams were then divided into their respective divisions.

The six divisions in order of standard were: A grade (teams 1-4), Cup division (teams 5-12), Plate division (teams 13-20), Bowl division (teams 21-28), Shield division (teams 29-36) and Spoon division (teams 37-44).

All the division champions and runner’s up were as follows:

A Grade Champions – Tumeke
A Grade Runner’s Up – Black Rats

Cup division Champions – Speightissimo
Cup division Runner’s Up – The Edge

Plate division Champions – TESTAROSSAS
Plate division Runner’s Up – Taggy Sits

Bowl division Champions – Bite the Bullet
Bowl division Runner’s Up – Storks Merge

Shield division Champions – Razzmatag
Shield division Runner’s Up – Papa’s got a brand new tag

Spoon division Champions – No Woman No Try
Spoon division Runner’s Up – Crunch

The tournament hosted two new teams and ample amounts of new players with the feedback being very positive. It may not be the last time we see them on a Try Tag Rugby pitch across London!

After the tournament and the presentation, the Tag community enjoyed the festival and DJs, with many staying until close! A great day was had by all involved with some sizzling Tag action to welcome in the summer.
